I truly believe that simple does not mean easy. Growing up in Missouri and my time in the Marines has only amplified this belief. I mainly played football and worked construction during the summers throughout high school; giving me a serious/stern attitude towards work. I laid concrete for 2 ½ years and quickly realized that’s not what I wanted to do forever. After graduation I joined the Marine Corps and was sent to Okinawa, Japan for 3 years as a Military Policeman. We mainly did “bro” workouts: shrugs, bench press, curls and…more curls before deploying to Afghanistan. I fell in love with fitness on this deployment because we were forced to use cement drums and a piece of rebar as our barbell; again proving simple doesn’t mean easy. It showed me that if it’s important to you, you’ll find a way with whatever you have. I continued to learn as much as possible about training from that point on.
Upon getting out of the Marines I moved to Michigan for a year with my wife Maria and continued pursuing fitness. After Michigan we moved to Tucson where I got certified as a NSCA-CPT and coached for 4 years. We moved to Chandler in the summer of 2017 and love it! I’m currently working on getting hired with a fire department in the valley but, I want to continue coaching and helping people reach their goals. I often forget that others are not from the “Show Me” State & have a tendency to over explain/demonstrate things; feel free to stop me when you notice it. What I miss most about the Marine Corps is a community of people working towards a goal and having fun while doing it and that’s exactly what Fit Society is all about!
